Still Not Dead
Jul. 27th, 2006 01:09 amBack from my weekend sojourn to Rogue's Island, which extended longer than I'd expected. I interviewed some people for my book, including a fellow who is 90 years old and has cancer. Figured I'd better get that interview while I can. The predicted rain was only intermittent, so all in all the trip was a success insofar as taking pictures and doing interviews was concerned. What's more, I got to eat a ton of seafood: scallops, clams, shrimp, fish, squid, octopus, and eel. Now that's a vacation.
I returned to learn that my next door neighbor had died. We'd barely talked, didn't know him at all, and it was inevitable, so I'm not in any way emotionally affected beyond the basic sympathy one has for anyone's death. Meanwhile, I'm still alive. And
the_star_fish honored this accomplishment by making a cheesecake for me that rather than "Happy Birthday" or some similar frippery, said simply "Seth's not dead!" She is great.
Meanwhile, if you want to catch up on news around the world, there are many options that will be more informative than my weekly newscast with Lex, but they won't be nearly as silly. And now it's Thursday, so feel free to join me for tea tonight if you have nothing better to do.
