After finally finishing my novel and then getting some unexpected bad news at the end of November, I went into a bit of a creative torpor. That's acceptable for two weeks or so, but I find I'm just not happy if my mind isn't working. Which is not to say I want to leap back into another NaNoWriMo (likely never again) or go edit my next book (necessary but unappealing), but rather that I want to get back in the swing of little silly writings.

So, here I am, posting on this little silly journal. And telling you that my latest little silly column is up, and I've updated my little silly blog, and that I'm hoping to do a bit of collaboration in the coming weeks to write some other little silly things with other little silly people who I've been meaning to write things with.

(Note to grammar geeks: I was considering using whom in that last sentence, but I realized I was already ending with a preposition, so I didn't bother.)

So it was premeditated instead of negligent. THAT'S a big improvement.

I had just finished writing it when I realized "whom" would be more grammatically correct, but then I also realized I'd ended with a preposition. I don't like the construction one gets when moving the final "with" towards the middle of the sentence (especially with a "with" in the middle already), so I decided to leave the whole sentence alone.

Glad to hear from you again.

You're going to DC soon? I'll be there 12/22-12/29 - any chance we could go have a delicious and economical Starbucks Cinnamon Bomb?

Ooh! Yes, we totally should hang out. And heck, now that I have a job that pays more than minimum wage, I could even spring for evil tapioca bubo tea. Email me your cell #, and let's make plans.

oh man... are you so cheap that you get water and put cinnamon in it? or is this something a little more complicated? ;) *hugs

Certainly not.

However, it's possible that I once drank the water, and then refilled the cup with half and half to which I added so much cinnamon that the powder made me cough repeatedly.

The column was very very silly. I loved it.

Your mother's freezer sounds very much like my mother's freezer, with the exception that the oldest stuff is probably not from a Bar Mitzvah. For reasons which should be obvious.*

After reading your LJ post, I wandered over and read your column (which was quite funny =) and then your blog, and from there I wandered around RisingPun.com and happened to stumble upon the OEDILF, which I thought was such an excellent idea that I registered and have already submitted two limericks. (can you tell I had some time to kill? my students were taking a test.) They're not my best, I don't think, but they're decent for having spent all of twenty minutes writing them (if I do say so myself). Anyway. Just thought you'd want to know. (=

Huzzah for the OEDILF! I'm glad to hear you've joined; keep submitting more, and tell anyone else you know that has a penchant for poetry.

The last line of your column almost killed me with laughing. I can't believe I didn't see that coming!

Oddly enough, I didn't either. I was just writing the headlines in a flow, and as I got to the last paragraph, suddenly realized how I had to finish.

HA!!!! "Cats, on the other hand, are more like "Man's Acquaintance Who Hangs Around When They Feel Like It If They Think You'll Do What They Want." (If that nickname is too long, you can call them "Women.")"

This made me laugh out loud, hard! thank you. :)
