Manners and Mouse shit
Aug. 29th, 2013 12:42 amMy column this week is a revival of my old Dr. Manners character, who I've used in a few columns over the years. I always have fun writing those.
Less fun was the other night, dealing with the mouse infestation in our kitchen. Little mouse turds everywhere. And then after dinner we left a newly baked giant egg and veggie frittatta to cool for just a few minutes, with lights on, during the early evening hours... but mice got to it, shat in it, and we decided to throw the whole thing away. the_star_fish, not me and the mouse.) We caught one in the trap, but I fear that's not the end of them. Alas.
Anyway, tonight we made seafood lasagna that was incredibly delicious, and we cooled it on a separate counter while covered, because taking no more chances. Going back in time for a moment, WordXWord was awesome, and then kassobruni hosted a lovely shindig where I saw a few of you folks I haven't seen in too long, and holy crap summer is almost over I haven't even done anything yet.
One of the WordXWord workshops was about actually getting poetry published, which oddly hadn't even occurred to me, just because I've always thought my political doggerel was for newspapers, but my spoken word stuff was just... spoken. But the person running the workshop has been very successful at getting published, and hopefully I will be motivated to start turning gears to make that happen. And hopefully before the end of next year I'll write a book. And make an album. Probably should hope less and work more.
