North Adams still occasionally fun
Aug. 5th, 2012 05:59 pmLike I said, I'd been beginning to doubt it, what with Main Street Stage being evicted, Papyri Books closing up shop, and the end of the monthly Potlucks for the Creatively Afflicted. The combination of these three things pretty much eviscerated my social connection to the local community.
But yesterday
minyan came over, to join
the_star_fish and my august self* to have an evening on the town. Downstreet Art was going on, and some local friends of mine were hosting a gallery opening, so we got to go see some cool art, chat with cool people, &c. Then Village was having a $7 for a large cheese pizza special (totally worth it), so we grabbed one and went back home to eat it and have root beer floats. Then minyan and I went out to see a random play on the lake, a jazz-infused puppet-assisted play based on the Archy and Mehitabel columns of Don Marquis. This play was bizarre, and also highly charming. If the nomadic theatre company performing it comes near you, I recommend it.
All in all, a delightful day that reminds me I should get out and enjoy my community more often.
