...I'd apologize that so many of my friends have had horrible times lately, because things have been going really well for me of late.
My page proofs came back for my RI book, and reading the book again, it's much less dry and more interesting than I remember it, which is definitely a good thing.
Somehow I finally got my fancy microphone working, a tech issue which has been plaguing me for literally over a year.
I will be using that microphone to work on an awesome project that I am very excited about. An educational company (at which I have a friend working, because that's how jobs tend to happen for me, so I am just grateful to have so many talented friends not only because I am fortunate to know such amazing people because you are awesome, but also because it occasionally gets me work) has hired me to write and produce a few educational raps for them, which is precisely the sort of thing I've always wanted to do. If this works out, I will be very pleased.
And we've been eating quite well. The other night I made nime chow for the third time, and to avoid the sub-optimality of the second time,
the_star_fish prepped everything in small bits and let it chill in the fridge, and it came out perfectly. And tonight she made snails in a sauce that approximated the delicious sauce at Espana! Sadly, our snails were not as tender. But still, when the food we eat at home is similar to all of our favorite restaurants combined, life is pretty awesome. Now I just need to learn how to make char siu bao and dolmas, and I will be lord of food.
Anyway, for all of you for whom July has been full of unpleasant pain, I hope August brings you respite and lots of awesomeness.
