Never mind this waiting for July nonsense; I declare things will be better as of today (technically, now yesterday).

Went for a lovely (if longer than I expected, due to my lack of geographical knowledge) walk with [livejournal.com profile] shideem to an art opening at a local mill gallery, where we both saw a few people we knew, as well as some cool art. Then it was a long walk for me back to the other side of town, where I was attending the birthday party of a friend. I managed to arrive late enough that I only had to sit through 20 minutes or so of World Cup. (Yes, I know it was an exciting game and many of you follow it enthusiastically; I am glad for your enjoyment but get disappointed if a "party" consists of a roomful of people watching sports on TV.)

Then there was food and chatting and gaming (Dungeon Lords is amusing and awesome), and I had a nice quiet post-midnight walk back home. I remembered that hey, I like walking at night. I also like walking with people. Alas, most of my friends around here tend not to be awake and ambulatory at midnight, but if anyone is, please let me know and we can be walkers of the night together without even being prostitutes!

Daylight coambulators also gleefully accepted. I get to go for short workbreak walks with [livejournal.com profile] dooneling now and again, which is always nice, even if I know she would rather be walking up steep hills or through muddy ravines, while I prefer my terrain flat, clean, and boring. But by now she's already heard most things I have to say, and my ambulatory blather is too much for one person to shoulder alone. (Although I hope she continues showing up anyway.)

I wrote a column that's sort of in support of sex education and condoms and so forth, but I was very careful not to mention any of them. Not sure about the result, but perhaps you'll have an opinion.
