I just remembered I had this icon
Feb. 9th, 2010 01:42 amSo, pretty smooth of me to tell you to be on the lookout for a Groundhog Day column and then not post it here, right? Right. Anyway, here it is, in all its unnecessarily researched glory.
I do a lot of bragging about how we cook so much tasty food at our house, but upon reflection I realized that the last few times I've talked about how we made bibimbap, or pad thai, or tortilla soup, that "we" was actually "
the_star_fish". So I'm pleased that the cooking of tonight's Loc Lac was actually done by me. That way, next time I want to brag about how "we" always make tasty food, I can mean it.
The local bar where I did my monthly stand-up comedy has closed. I am a slightly sadder panda. But I am not a sad panda, because life is still awesome.
Speaking of making life awesome: This is the year I'm going to self-publish God To Verse. Yes, I know, I've talked about publishing it for years. But first I wanted to try to get more agents and publishers, and then I wanted to post it online a week at a time for a full year, and then I wanted to give traditional publishing one last chance.
So I did all that. And now I need to self-publish. (Ideally by May.) But as I'm looking into various options, I'm finding that some are more expensive than others, which leads me to ask you all the following question:
How important is it for you, as someone who would consider oneself a poetry reader,
To have couplets in pairs of single straight lines that help the flow and the meter?
Because it seems from my initial research that although shorter margins
read less nicely,
Doing things that way would make both my initial outlay and the book cost
a lot less pricey.
