Simple Pleasures
Aug. 17th, 2009 12:18 pmFor the last week or so, I've started my day by pouring myself a bowl of cereal, walking out my back door, and picking fresh blackberries to put on the cereal. I have to say, as low-effort breakfasts go, it's both tasty and satisfying.
Root beer floats are still really good. I don't normally drink soda, but I have a root beer float most days in the summer, because there's nothing quite like it. (And yes, milkshakes, coke floats, slushees, etc., may all be options. But they are inferior options.)
Consumption of media still gives me an unwarranted sense of accomplishment. Whether I finish reading a book or even a stack of comics, or finish another video game by defeating the evil demon king, when I close the final chapter I feel a slight glow of satisfaction. This doesn't occur on the Internet for some reason, even though comics (and some books) can be read online and video games can be played online. I'm not quite sure why this is.
