What Saturday night was meant to be
Nov. 23rd, 2008 12:07 amWhat a night. There was, naturally, board gaming. But that is just the beginning. We made coconut mango rice with squid, which is definitely one of my favorite dishes. (Previously, we had worried that our favorite squid supplier had stopped carrying. But squid has returned, along with happy days and hope for the future.) After dinner and a quick game of Rocketville, I had to rush off to Improv.
The Royal Berkshire Improv Troupe, over its many years, has had its ups and downs. But tonight's show may well be a new high point. A husband of one of the performers, who has seen nearly every RBIT show ever, said it was possibly the best show by us he'd ever seen. Every single sketch got lots of laughs. Nobody negated anyone. Chemistry between performers was palpable. My rap was one of the better freestyles I've done. It was glorious. I'm still on a little high from it.
As if that wasn't enough, after the show, someone in the lobby looks oddly familiar. Turns out it's
lynnini, who saw my post about RBIT and randomly decided to drop by. Because she is awesome. So we joined a bunch of the cast and went out to the Alley for their pesto chicken tenders which are yum. And then I got home, and my email has a Google Alert pointing me to this article about my reading at WordPlay last week. I'd probably never have seen the article otherwise, so I'm glad to know it exists.
And now it's now, and I have to go remind
the_star_fish that she needs sleep, and then she'll talk about how the house is cold, and I'll say it's not cold, and then I'll do some writing, and damn but life is good.
