My day: Let me show you it.
Apr. 25th, 2008 12:55 pmI woke up early thismorning. On purpose!
the_star_fish and I were off to the Booksale at the Williamstown School, which is running today and tomorrow, and which local folks are advised to attend. I spent well over $100. Yes, me, Count von Cheapskate of Cheapsylvania. I am now the proud owner of a two-volume Edward Gorey set, a few coffee table books on things like LotR and the Marx Brothers, a number of comic book collections, an 8-volume Charlie Chaplin VHS collection, and much, much, much, much more. Also, my wallet is empty.

There's always a tension for me as a humor columnist whenever I feel like being mildly serious about something. On the one hand, occasionally I want to actually make a pointed argument, rather than just mocking things. But at the same time, my column is supposed to be a humor column, so I feel that it ought to be at least partially funny. Striking the balance isn't easy, so I'll let you judge for yourself whether I have succeeded or failed, as I tackle the issue of decriminalizing marijuana.
Today is my last day at work. I am writing this post from work. I'm thinking I should leave early because there's very little for me to do here at this point, aside from gathering my possessions into a bag.
( Also, lately I've been not winning poetry contests, for prizes I don't really need. )
