Three things I want.
Jun. 1st, 2007 02:41 pm3) Cool video games. Generally, I just play computer games. But cool arcade games are also (by definition) cool, and today I came across this online: Marine Catcher. It's a real game with lobster as prize!
Sadly, as I've posted previously, my favorite arcade game does not actually exist, but those of you who have never seen this video really need to: 3 Feet Deep
2) Publication of my writing. The Rhode Island book looks to *finally* have all the permission forms back (aside from one that's apparently ungettable, so the photo has to be scrapped), and should be out in September. But now that it's June, I really have to get back to work on the other stuff.
1) Hanging out with friends. Although I do some of this now, with yet more friends of mine graduating Williams again this weekend, I've been thinking how to ensure I can still see friends in the future. The idea of Intentional Community came up again recently, both in a brief conversation at
yaoobruni's, and as a discussion in
g_me's journal. While I have no desire to live on a commune, the idea of having my friends as neighbors (or at least in houses in the same neighborhood) appeals to me greatly.
However, it does seem highly tricky to make happen. I think a minority of my friends would be interested in intentional community to begin with, given some of the issues raised by agreeing on a location, having friends (and maybe FoaFs?) as neighbors, and sharing some big resources. And I've been told that of those few who might be interested, they generally either couldn't afford to buy a place, or already bought their own place elsewhere. But in spite of this, it remains something attractive to me. I wonder if it's attractive to any of you?
And no, I don't have $15 million, but I'd sure like this to be my house.
