Something Constructive
Aug. 22nd, 2006 02:11 pmI'm tired.
This is probably due to the construction that's been going on right across the street from my house for the past week or so, and gives no signs of stopping any time soon. I've been going to bed at 4, and waking up at 8, 8:30, 9:15, 10, 11, and 11:30. (I tried going to bed at 2, but wasn't tired at all, and was up until 4 anyway.) This, combined with a realization that some of my research wouldn't really be usable for my book, has put me in a mildly sour disposition.
But I had a lovely weekend. I joined
yaoobruni,
kassrachel, and
the_star_fish for a long drive to go see a live concert by Jonathan Coulton. And it was totally worth it. He sang a number of his wonderful songs, including my favorites Code Monkey and Skullcrusher Mountain. The concert was so good that I was inspired buy a CD full of songs he has released for free online. I really like the model of releasing songs for free and asking for donations, so I've donated to artists like Coulton and MC Frontalot, and if you download a bunch of their mp3s and like them too, consider giving them a buck.
In previous perambulations, I came across
sylvantechie and
woobat, who inquired if my circumlocution might result from a propensity for viewing Deadwood, a supposition which I was forced to admit contained an element of veracity. I have since learned that I am not the only one whose speech patterns are affected in this manner by the viewing of this most delightful television program: Watch this and see what I mean.
Self-promotion in brief:
This week's column
This week's newscast
Last week's newscast, which I think I forgot to post because the construction outside makes me feel like Harrison Bergeron with all the beeping in my head.
