Big Fish, Small Pond

On a lark, I went to a local poetry slam last night. Everyone else was doing prepared stuff, but I went with the improvised poetry, asking the audience for topics. I ending up doing one on politics and one on sunshine, though I can't remember any of them now, as usual. Most of the other poets were college kids, but there was one other older guy who delivered a second round poem that beat mine. However, his first round poem was not as well received as mine, so I ended up winning on points.

I'm glad the evening went well, as half of the events this weekend that I was looking forward to have been cancelled. But tea is still on for tonight, starting at 8:30, and I have tasty snacks.
