Poem from last year

Hey, it's January. I've been lame about posting. Expect this to continue until February. (although I owe malinalda a game rec, hopefully this month.) the_star_fish bought me a fancy new monitor to go with my new computer, so as soon as I finish this book, life will be very good again. Meanwhile, in honor of crazy primary season, I share this poem that I wrote last April:

Free Market Optimist

I like to believe
That given enough time
Discrimination will lose out to greed
That people will hire the best person for the job
Regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual preference
Because a good capitalist just wants to make the most money
That given enough time
Legalized marijuana and same-sex marriage is inevitable
Because they harm nobody and profit is to be made
From people enjoying themselves
That given enough time
People will realize that more autonomy and freedom and support for other people
Also results in a better world for you
From a purely selfish perspective
And my friends tell me
That given enough time
Those monkeys are going to finish writing Hamlet
