I've been watching some pretty neat videos about gaming lately. And I don't mean videos about cool games. I'm talking about videos that explain how games are going to become more and more fused with our real life as we head into the future. This is a fascinating topic for anyone, although I imagine it will be of particular interest to digital game designers such as [livejournal.com profile] tsiarxof, [livejournal.com profile] winterborne, [livejournal.com profile] cybersattva, [livejournal.com profile] elklad, etc., etc.

[livejournal.com profile] ethan_z_rss2 recently posted a bunch of stuff about games, but the best of the bunch was this video about Saving the World with Games. A somewhat optimistic TED speaker, Jane McGonigal talks about her games like "World Without Oil" and how they've actually improved the world through games.

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] pallasathene82 pointed me to a blog where I saw this incredible presentation about how games and reality are merging. This video will be of interest to anyone from the 20-minute mark forward, and of interest to anyone who plays games (INCLUDING FACEBOOK GAMES) possibly the whole way through.

Sure, these videos are both from early 2010, and I'm just watching them now, but chances are that most of you haven't seen them either, and this is some seriously fascinating stuff. Seriously.
