How it should be but isn't, and visa versa
Oct. 3rd, 2010 02:18 amHow it should be, but isn't:
This weekend's column was a bit experimental, but I like that I largely have free reign to occasionally do a column that's just a giant song parody, or a series of Captain's logs, or a court transcript, or whatever. In this case, it's mostly just a Mary Sue universe, but hey, It Could Happen.
How it shouldn't be, but is:
I may be unbeset by the hobgoblin that is foolish consistency, but foolish inconsistency still occasionally bedevils me. A friend of mine is moving away, a fact which I find disappointing, because my friends are awesome and I naturally prefer you close by. And yet it's not as if said friend and I ever really hung out, aside from thrice or so. And it's not like this is a novel situation for me. A few months ago, another friend announced a Southern migration. A few months before that, another friend was off to the big city. Et cetera, et cetera. And every time, I think, "Damn, I really like that person, I'm saddened by the fact that we won't be able to hang out any more." But it's not as if we really hung out when they were more proximal anyway. Clearly I have a rationality failure.
How it should be, and hopefully is:
If you have any (Judeo-Christianly) religious friends or family members, From God To Verse is clearly an ideal gift, either for you to give them, or for them to give others. Maybe both!
