Who you gonna column?
Mar. 20th, 2010 05:41 pmSo, I failed to post it last weekend, but I think my column about the Ides of March was the best I've written in a bit. Conversely, I have three complaints about this week's column:
1) I am too often insufficiently funny when I try to write really political stuff. (As opposed to just stuff *about* politics, which is completely different.)
2) The last two sentences were supposed to be a limerick and they unformatted them.
3) What the heck do I have to write to get a bunch of locals commenting argumentatively on the forums? Innocuous-looking news articles about "new restaurant opens" seem to get a firestorm of angry comments, but this is a town known for its church steeples, and here I am pretty much lambasting parts of the Roman Catholic church along with the Republican party, and nothing. I mean, granted, I care a lot more about food than other stuff too, but come on.
Anyway, years after talking to the fine folks at Songfight for my first book, I'm finally contributing some great lyrics and awful vocals. Any local musicians who would want to team up for future fights, let me know!
Improv show in Pittsfield tonight, for which I am leaving in a half an hour. Guess I should get my shirt out of the dryer.
