3-day weekend

the_star_fish had an extra day off, so we get to hang out even more than usual. This is delightful not only because I'm rather fond of her, but also because she has become a wizard of the crockpot, and cooked up a Tortilla Soup that was quite tasty. And tomorrow there will be more beef burgundy yay.

I'm posting my post-Thanksgiving column now, because it's still after Thanksgiving. Granted, now it's quite a bit after, but I didn't get to it until now. Tonight was monthly open mic at the Alley, and I improvised some jokes (bad), some rapping (good), and some improv (the RBIT show this Saturday will be better).

Someone (I forget who - possibly mhorai?) asked if I had shared any of the writing about board games I'd done. I think I may not have so far, but they just posted one of my reviews here, and there are another handful already in the can, so if you're interested in that sort of thing, it's just the sort of thing that would interest you.

I have an idea for a useful post to make in the next few days. Like the Cylons, I have a plan. And yes, I would know a cunning plan if it leapt up, nipped me on the arse, and sang four choruses of "I am a cunning plan" to the tune of "I am Henry the Eighth". (The early ones were a bit spotty, but Black Adder is still awesome).

I'm really not a pompous pontificating pedant...

...but you wouldn't know it from my recent writings. First there was the Zen Master thing a few posts ago, and now today's column was about Maimonides and the eight levels of charitable giving. I guess I think about this stuff more than I usually write about it (God To Verse notwithstanding), but for some reason lately I've been writing it down. I guess usually I presume people wouldn't be interested, although obviously I try to make things as interesting as possible.

I've always been sort of an egghead, I guess, although I feel like I can never really join the intelligentsia because I didn't go to grad school to get extra letters after my name. Anyway, I'm still keeping it real with the latest News In Rap, yo.
