Still Not King: Deja Vu
May. 26th, 2008 12:42 amSo today I went to the Western Mass. Regional Library System (WMRLS)(or as I like to pronounce it, "Worm-els!")(Yes, even though it'd be "whimrels") Poetry Slam finals, which were held at the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst. Alas, I didn't get to actually see the museum, since the slam took all afternoon and the museum closed long before we were finished. Although I did get to see two people dressed in big Frog and Toad costumes on their way to a special storytime, which was a charming introduction to the museum.
I barely qualified for this last month by coming in third in North Adams, behind a friend from the 413 slams, and then a guy I'd never met. So today, guy I never met didn't show up. My friend won again (the whole thing this time), a different guy I'd never met from a different city took second, and once again, I ended up with third place.
Oddly, although there were prizes for the qualifiers, this final round seemed to award nothing but trophies. And here's the best part -- they were used trophies! These were clearly trophies that the library picked up at discount from a tag sale or some such, because my shiny third place trophy proudly declares my victory in the cheerleading competition. *pompom* Gooooooooooo me!
And then I played a board game with H&K and now it is late. Anyone else want to play board games?
