The difference a day makes
Nov. 2nd, 2006 04:04 pmThings are looking up.
Last night was a poetry slam, at which I really, really slammed. Probably one of my better performances, especially my first poem, which although it did not rhyme quite as much as it could, was filled with more puns than I've ever done in improv poetry before. (My favorite line: "There are two things I hate that dogs do. Number one is barking, number two is... number two.")
And even if my second poem wasn't as good as my first, both got almost perfect marks from the judges. My repeat complete domination prompted the Slam organizers to announce that in fairness to everyone else, I would not be allowed to compete in next month's event. Instead, I will be a featured poet, and just get to perform whatever I want for a while with no scoring. I'm thinking I may try my first ever public freestyle rap performance. So if you have no plans for the evening of Wednesday December 6th, come to the poetry slam featuring yours truly.
Meanwhilst, it turns out my Halloween article was printed, just not posted online. Tomorrow morning I give a presentation to a bunch of middle schoolers about a humor course I'll be teaching there. Tomorrow night my friends arrive for Homecoming, and I've just finished writing the halftime show. And I'm taking Mondays off for the entire month.
So yeah, November could be pretty good for me.
