Poetry Slam Tonight
May. 3rd, 2006 01:52 amApparently there's a poetry slam tonight at 9pm at Cafe Latino (in the MassMoCA complex), and I'm going to bust a rhyme or two.
I guess it's a monthly thing, so it's the same people who ran the one I won last month. Someone said that the returning winner becomes featured the following month, so I may get to do my poems first but not compete. I have no idea if this is true. All I know is, I'm going to be tossing out some rhymes tomorrow night at Cafe Latino either way. I think there's a $3 cover, which is admittedly irksome, but after last time I told myself I'd go until my winnings no longer paid the cover. (Which gives me until July to win again.)
I'll say this: They could have done a better job advertising it. I mean, I just found out about it yesterday because I was thinking about last month's, and decided to do some online searching. One tiny notice in the Advocate? Not going to bring in the people. But they're trying to make poetry happen and good on them for doing so, so I'm mentioning it here in case you want to come slam some verse or see other people doing same.
