Cheese, Grommit! DC, Grommit!

So, I didn't accomplish much this weekend writing-wise, but the week had been productive so I can't* complain overmuch. And I had fun at sylvantechie's and woobat's and finished watching Slings&Arrows with the_star_fish. And tomorrow a party hosted by a friend who recently received bad news.

But let's talk about you. Doing anything Tuesday night at 9? Well, Wallace and Grommit are playing at Images, and it's two-fer night. You know you love the silly claymation.

Also, I'm heading to DC on Thor's Day, and am there until Tiw's Day, so any of you DC folks who are still in (or going to) the area for Christmas and looking for a respite from time with the family (as I will be), please do let me know so we can make plans to hang out (mryn, you are first on my list).

I wanna be like Mic

Lately, people have been saying to me, "You sound terrible." But I'm not ill, I just literally sound terrible. After realizing I want to do more recording of myself in the coming year, I've decided I need to get a microphone that doesn't sound like a tin can, string, and phlegm. Naturally, I know roughly nothing about microphones ("talk into the round end?"), so I come to seek your counsel. When I googled microphones and browsed randomly, this is the one that looked pretty:

I'm tempted to buy it, but eeblet (who also made this icon and insisted I use it, which by popular demand I am doing for this one post even if never again) suggested that I should ask someone who knows something first. So, knowledgeable compatriots, I put it to you: Should I buy this microphone? I'll be recording mainly talking for podcasts and singing for song parodies, possibly music too. Any advice would be useful. (I read the reviews, but I have no actual knowledge)

ETA: Lex told me he uses this or this. Thoughts on those also appreciated.
