Whose dumb-asphalt is this?
May. 26th, 2005 08:39 amIt's 8:30 in the morning. And I'm awake. This is not how things should be, especially after a long day yesterday spent mostly in transit.
There is construction outside my house. Like, right outside my house, just in front of the curb which is a few feet from my door. I could spit on the vehicles from here. And really want to, because it's so loud that I couldn't sleep. The beeping, the engines, the grinding, and then my room started smelling like tar. Smoldering smoke wafts by my windows, vehicle after vehicle is going back and forth, first fast, then slower backwards, then slower still forwards to actually lay down the asphalt, steamroll it, have men with rakes and shovels smooth it out more, etc.
Santa Fe was lovely. I stayed with an old friend, ate tasty tasty Mexican food, and walked through an arroyo, which just made me think of the video game Fallout. Now I am back for days, until it's off again to my brother's graduation.
I'm sorry to have missed the end-o'-college festivities for the younger crowd, but I hope if you're up during the summer (or even at the beginning of next year before classes start, or after they start but before workload becomes large), you'll let me know so we can hang out.
