Magic: The Gathering (Shandalar) is an incredibly addictive game. I have not gotten much writing done lately. The previous two statements, in spite of the choice of period over semicolon, are not at all unrelated. But I've watched some movies, and gone for walks, and generally hung out with friends, which has been nice.

Last Tuesday, my column wasn't in the paper. I emailed the guy there (my contact guy) and he said he forgot, but it'd be in later that week. I wondered, how can you just forget the column I sent that goes in every week? Well I found out on Thursday, when in addition to my column, a front-page story ran about the fact that my contact guy was leaving the paper for Vermont. Nobody was going to tell me before, and still nobody said anything after. Today my column didn't run, so I called the paper and asked to speak to my contact guy -- he'd already left for good. So, I talked with another fellow there who is now my new contact guy, and hopefully my column will continue to run weekly, though it seems that my regular Tuesday spot may or may not stand.

Once again, this year I failed to win or achieve runner-up in BBSpot's Annual Geek Limerick Contest, though I did receive a few honorable mentions. (And while you're at the site, click on the main BBspot.com homepage and look at his parody photo of the featured nerve.com date. He changes it every day to mock the featured photo, and while it sometimes takes him a few hours to catch up with updates, they usually amuse me.)
