Got to see some friends on campus this weekend, which was very nice. I don't have new years resolutions, but my goal for January is to spend more time on campus, while people I know are still there and have free time. Of course, last weekend was especially useful since [livejournal.com profile] lostsilmaril, [livejournal.com profile] sir_graeme, and [livejournal.com profile] entropicangel were in visiting, as were [livejournal.com profile] g_me and [livejournal.com profile] nescio17 briefly. But I also got to see some friends who are current students, like [livejournal.com profile] neurosophy, [livejournal.com profile] ojouchan, <lj user="girlwhoprobablyhasanLJbutwhoseLJhandleIdonotknow">, and <lj user="guywhoIamprettysuredoesnothaveanLJ">.

In fact, If you include today and go back to last Wednesday morning, I'm calling this past 7-day span a success. Wednesday, we ([livejournal.com profile] sylvantechie, [livejournal.com profile] winterborne, [livejournal.com profile] tsiarxof, [livejournal.com profile] the_star_fish, and I) came up with two games at gaming group, which we hadn't done in too long. Thursday, I took a stab at setting up a writing project which would please me if it gets printed in the paper. Friday was gaming with a few friends, Saturday was the aforementioned campus visit, Sunday the family was up visiting and bought me food, Monday [livejournal.com profile] dooneling donated me a vat of a turkey which I turned into turkey stew with her advice.

And tonight was perhaps most useful of all. I finished a draft of the article I'd set up on Thursday, made a tiny update to RisingPun.com, and had an online meeting with my old friend Lex to try to write some humor. We ended up with the start of a cute little song parody he's going to eventually submit to some people there, but working on it was just incredibly fun. It gave me that feeling, that rare feeling, of "I'm working hard and my brain is working hard and I love it and this is clearly what I ought to be doing with my life." So I'm going to try to write more humor this year.

Hopefully my new column will help me do that.
