We're all going to die. Watch Comedy Central.

This was the tagline for a commercial that Comedy Central ran a few years ago, and I found it both very funny and yet poignant. How the hell can a commercial with a dumb and simple message like this be poignant? Well, time just goes fast. Really fast. It's July now, and I feel like only last week it was May. Time flies even if you're not having fun - perhaps these ruminations were brought on by a disturbingly fascinating link that I saw tonight, but I'm noting the passage of time a lot again.

So yes, we're all going to die. And while I don't believe that this requires us to watch Comedy Central per se, I do believe that it makes it all the more important to experience comedy while we can. There is wisdom in the old words: Eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die. We all eat and drink pretty much every day, but frequently not enough with the merry. Luckily, I've tentatively got a viewing of Brain Donors scheduled for tonight with some friends. (Hey friends, feel free to let me know what precisely the plan is.)
