Weekend of nonsense
Feb. 1st, 2004 01:06 pmTwo nights ago was the company party-- the second time that bigwigs from NY have come to visit. The first time this happened, it was for dinner, and I ended up seated across from a delightful old fellow with a good sense of humor. We had chatted about silliness and old comedy all evening, and I had a great time. I was under the impression that he was retired but this time apparently word had come down that he was now a board member, because everyone else was positioning to talk to him so I barely got to say hello. Which is a shame, as it meant that my bad jokes that only he would have liked ended up being told to various other NY illuminati who didn't appreciate them. Or me.
Then last night was another party, at which I met a few people apparently in for the weekend to attend "God Camp". How this meshes with the fact that they seemed to be discussing sex toys for half of the evening, I can't say. But I suppose that's the wonderful thing about freedom of religion.
